[Clover is in her room at the Goldenrod hotel. She's sitting on her bed with an Eevee beside her, looking somewhat...confused. The Delcatty (yup, we now know where much of the money Clover earns from the Center went to) at her feet is staring at the Eevee, as if wanting to ask, "WHY ARE YOU HERE." Her tail swishes and her attention returns to Clover, who just sighs and starts talking.]

I found Scoville waiting in my PC. [She pats the Eevee on the head.] And there's one other thing.

... [Clover the Delcatty cocks her head to one side. Her next unspoken question is, "WHAT OTHER THING."]

His previous trainer was Ace, and he's gone. I have no idea why he'd give me his Eevee, but...I'll keep him.

[Scoville beams and wags his tail, bracing his paws onto Clover's lap. Delcatty will just fold her paws regally and just sit Sphinx-style.]

I better start thinking of what he'll evolve into, huh? And his new name, probably. [She frowns in thought. Names are serious business.]

By the way, I checked Scoville to make sure he didn't have any tricks up his furry sleeves, and got nothin'. Twice. So I'm pretty sure he's safe.

But I really dunno why he'd leave him with me. Or maybe Scoville escaped and then found his way into my PC? Geez, I'll never understand that guy. At least he's out of our hair.

[Clover rolls her eyes, and sighs in relief. And at least he hadn't tried anything out of line.]

I feel kind of bad for that Eevee, though. What kind of a name is Scoville?

[She will just nod in agreement.]

Chloe said a Scoville is a unit of measurement for how spicy food can get. Which is why he thought Ace probably wanted a Flareon.

But seriously, he could've given the Eevee a better name!

Spicy food? It sounds more like some small British town that nobody ever wants to visit.

Have any ideas for what to change it to?

Hmmmm...right now, I'm not yet sure. I kinda want to decide on what I want him to evolve into before changing his name.

Oh, you're going to pick? I just let my Eevee evolve on her own, so I guess I can't offer much help there.

Yeah. Then maybe I'll rename him.

[ Putting down the camera to go fetch her! When he comes back and sits down, he's got an Espeon happily curled up on his lap. ]

June here evolved into an Espeon a little while ago.

She looks pretty. I have a friend who's got an Espeon too.

Espeons are pretty, but Vaporeons look like they walked straight out of a legend.

Pretty...and pretty smart. Out of all my Pokémon, I think she's the most clever.

Vaporeon? That's the one that looks like a mermaid version of a cat, right? They're pretty cool, too.

Yeah. I did some reading, and I found out that some people mistake them for mermaids because of their tails.

I guess that makes sense. They don't look much like pretty women, though, so people probably realize their mistake fast.

They look like pretty cats.

Exactly. So if they're anything, they're mercats.

That's...one name I could give Scoville if he becomes a Vaporeon. I think.

It's probably better as a second name. Like, "X the mercat" or whatever.

Yeah, but normally I don't give my Pokémon second names. Maybe I should give him a name that has something to do with being a mercat, or would fit one.

So something related to water, then? That shouldn't be too hard to think of.

[ I mean, there have to be plenty of water puns out there, right? ]

[She nods. Bring on the puns. Which I can't come up with at the moment.]

Yup. Hopefully not an old, dusty-sounding one.

[ ...yes it did take me this long to come up with one, and it's not even a name. or funny. shut up. ]

I bet there's a pool full of good names out there, so it's about time for you to dive in and fish out one you like.

But it might take you a while to find the right one, if you only catch one at a time. A net might be faster.

Yeah, so that way another fisherman—...or girl, I guess—can find it and keep it if they want it.

But don't people use the same names sometimes? I mean, I could pick a name and then someone else would use it too...

Wait, they probably come from the same school or something.

That makes sense. There has to be a limited number, though. I mean, think about how boring would it be if everyone named their Pokémon Bob or something.
